Adventure Service Challenge (ASC) (Years 4-6)

ACS is back! BJAB will be continuing their ASC group for Years 4, 5 and 6 beginning on Tuesday 28th April until Tuesday 9th June included. The ASC scheme is a junior version of the highly regarded British Duke of Edinburgh Award.

It is a scheme also used by many scout groups to provide a progressive programme of activities around the themes of :

  • Adventure: Discovery, exploration, leisure pursuits, attitudes to and skills for life.
  • Service: Concern for others, opportunities for helping those in need
  • Challenge: A comprehensive and complete training programme.

It is a structured programme but at the same time flexible enough to be adapted for our students. Our aim is to make as many of the sessions as practical and fun as possible including some trips out of school. Those taking part are not in competition with each other; their progress is assessed on the measure of their own personal achievement. The group will run throughout the school year and a record card of activities will have to be completed in order for the students to gain their Junior Stage 1 or 2 certificates. It is for this reason that we are asking for a year long subscription and commitment.

The BJAB ASC group will meet on Tuesdays from 3.35pm – 4-30pm and will be coordinated by Miss Bird (Y4) and Miss McCausland. This activity will be invoiced (5 euros/lesson)
