The British Junior Academy of Brussels, a small private international school in the heart of Brussels, is seeking an enthusiastic Admissions Officer to join its administrative team starting August 2023. Our ethos is grounded in providing a safe, caring, respectful, tolerant and disciplined environment where high standards prevail in all areas of school life. The school has approximately 240 pupils and a teaching staff of 45. BJAB is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates will be subject to background checks in line with British Overseas Standards. 


The Admissions Officer will oversee the admission process from enquiry to settling, managing both local and international enquiries with professionalism and efficiency to convert them into successful applications. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about education, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, and eager to support the growth of our international school. This is a front-facing role for prospective families and the ideal candidate will represent the school in a friendly, positive and well-presented manner.  


Main Responsibilities: 


  • Manage the admissions process from first enquiry to the pupil’s arrival at the school, ensuring that it delivers excellent, warm, effective, and timely professional customer service 
  • Build and maintain a relationship with prospective families, providing excellent communication and an efficient, clear process for them 
  • Prepare and conduct tours of the school sites, meet and greet visitors, ensuring that all aspects of a visit provide an excellent first impression and customer experience 
  • Organise and implement open evenings and informational events, following up visits and canvassing feedback in order to maximize conversion of visits to applications 
  • Input data provided on Application Forms into management information system, organize assessment sessions, taster days and visits for prospective students 
  • Contact candidates’ current schools for confidential references and safeguarding information, chase any missing documents, ensuring all relevant information is uploaded to the school MIS 
  • Liaise with colleagues to prepare and align the school’s marketing plans to support admissions goals, analyze admissions data to prepare regular reports for school stakeholders 
  • Maintain an overview of the size of each year group 
  • Contribute to strategic plans to improve admissions processes, meet intake goals and support the expansion into Senior School 
  • Attend functions/events on occasion off the school site pertaining to admissions

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR requirements 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment 


Qualifications & Skills: 


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Excellent IT skills and mastery of Microsoft Suite; capacity to learn iSAMS Admissions Module  
  • Experience working within a busy school or nursery environment, preferably an international or private school, whilst not absolutely necessary, strongly desired 
  • Native or near-native mastery of English; ability to communicate in French is strongly desired 
  • Legal working permission in Belgium (no permit sponsorship is available for this role)
