Admissions Process
Welcome from the British Junior Academy of Brussels!
We understand that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and our team is here to guide you through the admissions process every step of the way. At BJAB, we strive to provide exceptional education and personalised support for our students, preparing them for success in the 21st century.
Our admissions process involves several steps, starting with an initial enquiry and culminating in your child’s first day at school. Our Admissions Officer will work closely with you throughout the process to answer any questions you may have and ensure a smooth transition into our school community.
As an international school, we offer admissions at BJAB on a rolling basis and allow year-round entry.

Steps for Entry
1. Tour & Interview
The admissions process begins with a tour of the school and interview with Mr Retter, Headteacher. Families are invited to view our facilities and speak with Mr Retter about our educational offering. In order to request a tour, please enquire through our website, email ([email protected]) or phone. Appointments can also be arranged through video conference, allowing admission from abroad.

2. Gaining Admission
Following the tour, we ask interested parents to formally apply for admission by completing the following required documents:
Application Form
Medical Information Form
Our Admissions Officer will confirm receipt of your documents and send a formal offer of place, should this be agreed with the Headteacher. In some cases, prospective pupils may be required to undergo entrance assessments. These assessments do not determine admission, but will help our staff best tailor your child’s learning journey. Pupils may also have the opportunity to spend a ‘trial day’ with us in their future class.
All admission decisions are made by the Headteacher and members of the Senior Leadership team. Classes are kept small at BJAB to provide the best educational provision possible; therefore spaces are limited and may involve waitlists. If you have any questions regarding your child's admission status, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. Applications from children requiring 1:1 learning support, financial aid, or other special circumstances may take longer to process.
3. Registration and Payment
The school will issue invoices according to the current Schedule of Fees. The first invoice is for the Registration Fee (500€) and Deposit (500€). Your child’s space is secured upon payment of this initial invoice. The Registration Fee and Deposit are non-refundable if a place is not taken up within the agreed period. Invoices for school fees follow. Our administrative team is available to issue attendance certificates for employers.
